SMA facilitates swift and cost-effective money transfers from countries outside the mainland of Africa to countries within the continent. Utilizing the SMA app, you can promptly send funds from Visa or MasterCard debit cards to mobile wallets and bank accounts across multiple countries. For specific details, refer to the country pages.

 

What is the maximum amount I can send per transaction in USD?

You can send up to $999 per transaction.

 

Is there a minimum transaction amount?

Yes, the minimum transaction amount is $2CAD, 2Euro, 2GBP or 10 Dubai Dirhams or equivalent in the Middle East.

 

Does my recipient need any documentation to collect funds?

No, funds are seamlessly deposited into your recipient’s mobile wallet, enabling convenient withdrawal from any official agent without the need for additional documentation.

 

Can I send to local bank accounts?

Yes, you can send money to local bank accounts at various banks across Africa. We are continuously expanding our network to include more banks.

 

How long will it take to deliver my funds to Madagascar?

Typically, funds are delivered within minutes. However, occasional delays may occur due to factors such as recipient carrier issues or internal processing. Rest assured, we strive to ensure timely delivery and keep you informed of any delays.

 

What are your fees and rates for sending money?

SMA offers competitive fees and rates tailored to each market we serve. In countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, where fees are waived, we operate on a small percentage basis on the exchange rate displayed in the app's main page. For other destinations like Liberia, we maintain low rates to uphold affordability.

 

Can I come to your office to send money?

SMA exclusively facilitates money transfers via the app, ensuring secure transactions anytime and anywhere. We do not have physical agents for receiving payments.

 

Security

 

How do I know my funds are safe?

Ensuring the safety of your funds is paramount to SMA. We securely hold customer funds in a dedicated account, safeguarding them in the event of any unforeseen circumstances. Rest assured, your money is protected with us.

 

How secure is SMA?

SMA places utmost importance on safeguarding your personal data. We employ robust encryption measures to encode all data entered into the app, ensuring secure transmission over a 128-bit encrypted connection.

 

How do I reset my password?

If you forget your password, simply attempt to log in, and upon incorrect entry, you will have the option to reset your password via mobile or email.

 

How does SMS Login work?

By enabling SMS login in your settings, you receive a verification code via SMS each time you log into SMA. This additional layer of security, known as two-factor authentication, enhances the protection of your SMA account.

How do I cancel a transaction?

Transactions can be cancelled if funds have not yet been delivered to the recipient's mobile wallet. Once a transaction status changes to 'Delivered,' refunds are not possible.

 

What happens if I send to the wrong recipient by mistake?

While we advise verifying recipient details before sending, mistakes can happen. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of refunds for transactions sent to the wrong account. Please contact our support team promptly if such an error occurs.

 

Can I use a credit card or PayPal?

SMA exclusively accepts debit cards to minimize fees and provide cost-effective services to our customers. Please note that company cards are not accepted.

 

What currency can I send?

You can send money in your local currency, which will be converted to the recipient's local currency upon delivery.

 

How long will it take to deliver my funds?

Most transactions are swiftly delivered, though occasional delays may arise due to various factors. We prioritise prompt delivery and keep you informed of any delays.

 

What options do I have for sending money?

You can send money directly to mobile wallets or bank accounts, as specified in the SMA app.

 

Why am I being charged two fees?

Local mobile money networks may charge fees for cashing out transfers. These fees are separate from SMA charges and are applicable only if you choose to withdraw funds from your wallet.

 

What are MTN Ghana's limits?

MTN Ghana imposes specific limits on transactions. These include a maximum balance of 10,000 cedis and restrictions on the amount per transfer. We accommodate these limits to ensure seamless transactions.

 

What are MTN's and Airtel's limits in Uganda?

Both MTN and Airtel in Uganda have transaction limits and maximum wallet balances. We adhere to these limits to facilitate smooth transfers, ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction.

 

What are Safaricom M-Pesa's limits in Kenya?

Safaricom M-Pesa in Kenya imposes transaction limits and maximum wallet balances. We align with these limits to ensure efficient transfers, striving to meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations.

 

What are Vodacom M-Pesa's and Airtel's limits in Tanzania?

Vodacom M-Pesa and Airtel in Tanzania enforce transaction limits and maximum wallet balances, which we adhere to for seamless transfers. It's important to ensure the recipient's wallet has sufficient space to receive funds.

 

What are Wave Mobile Money's limits?

Why is 3DS not working for me?

If you encounter issues with 3DS, ensure that your bank's app is up-to-date. If problems persist, contact your bank for assistance. We continuously work to improve the 3DS process for enhanced user experience.
